|
Producing quality saffron calls for careful
planting, keeping harvesting and processing.
At the planting stage the most important points are
follows : Location of farm, quality of the soil,
climate, kind of bulb and the care taken in
planting.
Ate the keeping stage saffron farms should be
irrigated in a way that the plants don`t flower all
at once so that farms workers have enough time to
work with care.
The harvest begins at the dawn of first days of
autumn so that the cool weather and half-blossomed
flowers guarantee the high quality of the corp.
After the harvest, it is time to separate the red
filaments of saffron which is called stigmas.
Workers in charge of separation as well as the ones
who harvest must work with sterile hands to prevent
contaminating the crop and the growth of micro-organisms.The
care taken at this stage has a great impact on the
quality of the crop. The last stage of producing
saffron is the |
|
processing stage that has a great
part in obtaining
|
|
|
|
high quality saffron. At this stage,
the crop |
|
|
|
loses its water and gets dry
obtaining a unique scent.
Finally, the crop is ready to be
presented and consumed. |
